This past weekend was the Official Visit weekend for most of the 2019 recruits. A few were not able to attend because their teams are still in the playoffs and there were a couple of players who are not committed and the coaches are still trying to get their commitment. If any of you who are calling for Coach Huesman's, or any of the other coaches, head you need to relax. This staff is building something special and we are so proud our son will be a part of it. The 2018 team quit, or more to the point Rocco's players quit. The coaches know it, the players know it and so do all of you. I'm not saying all of them did. Johnny Yarbs is one the finest young men I have met and I wish he was around for another year so my son could learn from him. I pray that he gets his shot at the next level he deserves it.

What we witnessed this past weekend was truly amazing. Each recruit was assigned a player host and except for eating (not sure Texas de Brazil will ever recoup from that feeding frenzy) and the Wake Forest basketball game (great win for the Spiders) our boys were with their hosts while the parents spent time bonding. All of the coaches hung around with us all weekend and some brought their wives to hang with us too. These are the people we will be entrusting our boys with and to get to know them on this level was pretty special. I can honestly say my wife and I made some great new friends this past weekend and can't wait to spend more time with them at games. A few of us father's have already started plans for a class of 2019 (incoming not graduating) tailgating area, so if you see us stop and say hello. Watching the recruits bond with each other and their hosts was heartwarming for any parent. Knowing our kids are leaving home and will have these guys around will give all of us peace of mind that they are surrounded by quality people.

Back to the coaches. How many of you know what Coach Huesman walked into when he took over Chattanooga? That school was riddled with sanctions, not to mention the loss of scholarships. He along with most of this staff not only got through that but made them into a playoff team. They will not have those issues at Richmond so they just need time to fill the roster with their players, who will buy into their system. Witnessing what we did this past weekend they are off to a fantastic start.

Thanks for the update. I had heard the same thing about some of Rocco’s guys quitting on the team. Welcome to your son. I know that he will have a great college experience at Richmond and I look forward to cheering him on the next 4 or 5 years.

BIG THANKS to a dad to keep people sane, heck there are those on here calling for the moderator(s)' head as well so don't think that all of us are completely crazy, just some of us. really nice to hear of your experience and glad that it went so well. if your son has half as good a 4 years as i had on campus, he and your family will be elated.

Thank you for this post. Many times, I swear I'll never come back to reading the stuff submitted on this board due to its negativity. Sometimes it is disrespectful to players. Whenever I have a chance to talk to a coach, I tell them I want to read in the papers about our players for the right reasons because I take pride in the University and the type of athletes we bring on board. So glad you are feeling comfortable and looking forward to the upcoming seasons. I'll bet the incoming class enjoyed seeing the annual FBS opponents and the trip to MI.

Great post and really great stuff. In particular agree with the sentiment that would have been nice to have had some of those true seniors back for another run. Very pleased RH is taking advantage of the redshirt rules and will give guys 5 years. Feels like we’re building the foundation. Still not sure all of the assistants are good coaches so wouldn’t mind seeing some changes but I’ll give them a chance regardless. Looking forward to seeing the improvements.

Agree, even Russ said there needs to be a re-evaluation of system, including coaching.

We are officially turning the page on the Rocco Era with this signing class. I think we will see a completely different culture as this happens. These commits will be signed based on having a specific skill set that our staff are looking for in order to execute systems they prefer. This class along with last year's class will pay big dividends as they move forward. The benefit of redshirting an entire class except for specialist is immeasurable in FCS.

Your son made a great choice in a school, the football is just a bonus. His degree from University of Richmond will be the basis for a successful career, and he will love being here.

But why Texas de Brazil with the awesome dining hall they have here?
