2017 Richmond Spiders Football - Prologue - Elon

it all came together on offense and defense for the Spiders against a Howard team "that was not who I thought they were"...my apologies to Dennis Green...

as I listened to Coach Huesman this week and read about Elon I kept thinking are we playing Howard again, or Elon?

the similarities are rather startling: new coach has brought new life and attitude into struggling program; played well in non conference schedule with surprising and impressive upsets; team playing with an edge and lots of confidence; led by a feshman QB and strong RB....you get the idea

to top it off Richmond is a 2TD plus favorite...uncanny!

isn't there an old saying something like this: "fool me once shame on you" "fool me twice shame on me"?...I'm a believer this time...they are who the experts think they are..

the Spiders also come into the game with big momentum and more talent on both sides of the ball...we keep improving and win an important CAA home opener...

Charleston Southern came off a rough week, as did The Citadel with limited practice time and disruption to their routines,due to the hurricane flooding of the Charleston area last week ! The Citadel, much the better team, barely escaped ETSU on the road and Charleston Southern fought validly late in the game against Elon ! Spiders O will crush Elon and the UR defense will take their freshman QB to the same fate as the freshman Howard QB ! Go Spiders and the Spider Gang !!!

I have a really good feeling about this game and this team. I think we turned the corner last week. We will see, but I sure hope I'm right!
