Last night sucked, but what a special season. It was great to get ourselves back on the national stage again. Our guys got a feel of what it takes to climb the mountain and i'm really hoping they'll be motivated to find the peak next year.

We didn't get an awful lot of help from the zebras last night but we were pretty well manhandled on the lines. Losing Ritcher really, really hurt when we were already down. Does anyone know what happened to Nick? We got a glimpse of the future with Kliebert. He has come a long way, but as last night showed, he still has a ways to go.

Regarding next year, we lose several key pieces off this team but our overall roster depth is pretty impressive. By my math, we return 7 on offense and 9 on defense and both our kicker and punter

Offense:

LT- Light is going to be a really good one. He already is very good.
LG - Marius Young is a good, solid player ready to step in.
C- Vergos - very good center. All CAA caliber.
RG- Evans - All CAA player
RT - Kliebert or ??
All 3 Tight Ends back. All are good players.
WR- Brown, Abell, and several very promising youngsters
FB - Pavic, Moon - both good players
RB - Big ??? here. Gordon Collins, Jay Palmer, the Fresman from Henrico. Could be a great spot for a FBS TRansfer
QB - Lauletta - All CAA player that will continue to get better

Defense:

The D Line is loaded with Muse, Clyde, Craig, Gregory, Waller, Velardo, Shrider and a handful other young puppies that are growing.

Linebacking corps loses Trevor Jones, who really had a terrific senior season but has back an All CAA player in Howard, Hodge, Sedegren, Rubin and another guy or 2 that i'm probably forgetting.

Secondary loses Ayo and Herlocker, who are both big losses but we have All CAA Jones to anchor this group, plus Mainsah, Jordan, Keels and a handful others ready to step up.

We should be ranked #1 in the CAA and in the Top 5 in the country pre season and we have a really attractive home slate to get some tickets sold.

Let's go do some basketball rootin' and then get ready to climb the mountain again. See you in Charlottesville on Labor Day weekend.

The Program is in excellent shape. We are loaded next year. I expect both our lines to really control games just like we did most of this year. Agree we could really use a FBS transfer at RB, although I think Gordon Collins is going to be a good one. I see him as our bruising back a la Seth Fisher, but we need a quicker back and just some depth in general.

Great recap. Future is looking bright.

Hopefully 2015 was like 2007 and 2016 will be like 2008.

Let's shoot for a higher seed so we don't have to leave Richmond in the playoffs - it's remarkable that our 2008 team was the last National Champ to win a playoff game on the road.

Mo - thanks for lifting the spirits after last night. Not a lot of holes in that lineup. Hopefully can bring in a good class this year. Might not need BCS transfer if we can convince a top flight HS RB he can start from day 1.

Wilkins at WR I think has a chance to be very good.

Any chance we can get a 6th year for the safety that was hurt week 1?

Lastly - keep BC away from here. Don't want to lose any 5 yr guys but hopefully they were excited by this year.

Good call on Wilkins and yes, one of those BCS transfers that got hurt at Safety will be back.

If home field advantage is worth 3 points, then the Fargodome has to be worth 13 points at least against teams that have never played there before. That's a big reason why NDSU has won 16 straight playoff games there, most of those 16 teams had probably never played there before.

Goals for 2016:

1. Beat UVa
2. Beat the Pukes
3. Beat the Tribe
4. Win the CAA
4. Get a top four seed!

Oh, and win a national championship....

Bevels Brown and Wilkins have the chance to be one of the best corps we have ever had. Need a running back, and need lineman. You can get away with gaps at safety or at tight end or other positions, but as we showed last night you must have a good OL and DL.

That's where I disagree about the DL. I don't think we have the big guys it takes to be consistent. Craig and Muse are solid, but a guy like Ben Schrider is so undersized to play too much. Even Waller, who is a good pass rusher, can't hold up all game against a strong run opponent. We have a bunch of guys, but personally not sold on most of them yet.

OL will be good because Marius Young can play LG fine. I hope one of the youngsters can play tackle because Kliebert cannot. Light is good but right now we have 1 tackle. Sorry.

Every other position we are in an amazing spot, even in the secondary. But both lines scare me

Defense definitely needs to improve. We gave up a ton of points and yards to good teams with our "bend and break" defensive scheme. Key is pressure on the QB, and our D-line had a hard time with that. Sure would like to see a Cooper/Nixon type of free safety again. Jordan gets beat like a drum, hopefully gets much better next year. Mo is right about about getting a nice transfer in the RB position. All looks good for another run to top 8 as long as Lauletta stays healthy.

26, any insights on John Yarborough or any other OL that were redshirted this year? Is Yarborough a tackle?

I agree we could use a transfer RB, but I would add we could use some additional help on both lines and a sold backup at QB

So you don't think David Jones, a 1st team CAA and All-American is good enough at free safety? Your sarcasm and negativity is sickening...you jerk. I have a feeling you don't even know who played free safety.

So you don't think David Jones is a great free safety, jerk.

This is one of those unfortunate instances where the Ignore Feature on Rivals just does not work. Had to see what you were referring to.

Unbelievably stupid stuff but unfortunately predictable.

From what I saw/heard from practice, goal is to have one of them start next year. Kinda like Light this year, everyone knew he would jump into a starting role. This is more unpredictable but we need someone to step up cause Kliebert has had 3 years to prove it and hasn't yet

Broadus is a RJr.He's a smart kid.Wonder if he will have enough credits by next semester's end and decide to forego his 1 remaining year of eligibility.

He is the only QB presently that could really take over the reigns if something happened to Kyle.

MolivaManiac - I agree with your assessment of talent for next year. I would add that I would like to see a couple of FBS transfers on the defensive line so that we can have more of a rotation to keep players fresh; I would also like to see an FBS transfer at WR and at RB for the same basic reason. An FBS transfer at offensive tackle would make Kleibert play better and would give us depth at a place where I think we need it.

I feel really good about the D line also. Maybe a little small there, but the speed on that unit is impressive. The secondary will be a clear strength of next year's team. I thought Jordan played well all year especially considering he was a young, inexperienced player when he was pressed into action. I think it could be argued that Mainsah had the potential to be our best corner before the cheap shot at Hampton. Jones is an all American and we get one of the transfers back from injury. We played a lot of young guys this year and that will only benefit us next season. Not sure what K is seeing, but the future is bright. Again, we will be the favorite in fhe CAA and should be ranked in the top 5 starting next year based on the talent we return from the final four run this year.

I agree about Jordan and Mainsah. Both are quick and have good toughness.

Keels is the guy that's going to turn heads. Terrific size.

Given our overall roster depth, I would surmise that we'll be in position to redshirt most incoming freshmen.

I believe our schedule should also work for us in 2016...six home games including some of our historically most difficult opponents: Nova, the Pukes, Towson and the Blue Hens...

unfortunately we don't face New Hampshire and can't get that bad mojo straight...losing to NH this season was one of the few disappointments of a great season...

Here's the whole schedule: http://www.richmondspiders.com/pdf9...D=629561&SPID=91932&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=26800

I also think Dejon Brissett and Caleb Drake will see time at WR. The WR position may be as deep as any time in program history. David Broadus is also a key piece for next year as he gives us a second seasoned QB and also allows Kevin Johnson to take a redshirt year like Laulleta did.

All those questioning why Coach Rocco brought in Michael Rocco last year should be thankful as Kyle will now have two more seasons as an ALL CAA QB. That move will pay big dividends.

Rumor has it that Chase Edmonds is looking to transfer (somewhere) from Fordham.

Edmonds is a sophomore. He would have to sit out a year if he moves up(FBS) or laterally(FCS).

For a transfer to play immediately he would need to have graduated in June/August 2016
with one year of eligibility remaining or move down from FBS with more than one year of eligibility(Michael Rocco rule) remaining.

If I see him on his Bronx campus when UR plays the Rams in roundball on 1/10/16,I'll be sure to say hello.

The Florida QB will transfer to another FBS school. His dad, Chad Grier, started his college career at UR before transferring to ECU.

I'll be happy with an FBS running back who can play next year. Give me that, and I think we have a great chance of going deep again.

Chris James from Pitt announced he was transferring. Wasnt one of our transfers last year from Pitt?

We have a lot of talent returning next year. I'm hoping that some of the young d-linemen will really develop over the off season and we can have an improved pass rush next season. Defensively this year we didn't have many tackles for loss or sacks. I know a lot of that was scheme related and we did capitalize with tons of ints but it would be nice to be a little more "dynamic" up front on defense. Hopefully we will have more depth up front on D which should keep guys fresher and in turn help us get more pressure.

Captain if you look at difference between 2008 and 2015, it is the DL. 4 linemen who could all put pressure on the QB with Sidbury as one of 2 DEs
who were fast and powerful. The inside tackles had to be double teamed leaving the DEs one on one. I believe our 2016 tackles with Craig and Muse
are only going to get better and Andrew Clyde is a proven gem who I would like to see 20 pounds heavier with same speed. We need at least a dominating
DE. If Evan Kelly would have stayed, we would have had a dominant, deep DL. This group of LBs I would rate on par with 2008.

Edmonds is a sophomore. He would have to sit out a year if he moves up(FBS) or laterally(FCS).

Thanks, I didn't understand this rule fully. I thought any transfer to FCS, down or lateral, was able to avoid sitting out a year.
