Yikes !! They are calling for steady snow showers Friday night ( 1 to 3 inches ) and Saturday as well . (another 1 to 3 inches ) . We could be involved in a Snow Bowl game.

How does this effect the Spider's game plan ? Who benefits most from this cold wet weather forecast ?

This could be a great equalizer favoring The Spiders against Washington's prolific pass oriented offense. We will need to be able to run the ball well and control the clock, taking them out of their usual element. I like it. I think.....

What do my fellow Spider brain trust members think ??

I agree. I would prefer a more violent natural disaster, but snow will suffice.

Run Pavik behind our horses as well as Thompson. Our tight ends can run as well. The Offensive linemen should come out wearing short sleeves. Our WR YAC should be nice after quick slants catches.

Receivers often lose defenders in snow games, they know where they are going and the defenders don't -- not trying to rain on the parade, just be realistic

We are not running the ball very well (see North Dakota game) and we throw to win games. And somehow you guys think that the snow favors us and not the team that lives and breathes that location?! Wishful thinking...

We throw the ball well; EWU throws the ball like an NFL team. It would definitely favor us.

snow helps richmond tremendously, ground and pound baby
Have you seen our power running lately? we can't pick up even short yardage (1 to 3 yards) inside the 20, and our run defense is mediocre, right? Is their running game worse?

They average 129 yards a game on the ground. We average 145.

They give up 200 a game, while we give up 146.

It's imperative that we run the ball well – in addition to helping open things up for our passing game, it will keep their offense off the field, and shorten the game a bit.

Just read that they expect about one inch of snow on game day and that the field should be cleared by game time. I know that they are the overwhelming favorite in this game, but their board appears to be taking us for granted. That is a little insulting.

will Porter Abel be back for this one, and if so how is he doing

Illinois St. took us for granted too as the 2 seed. How did that turn out?

Have to expect that response out of them, and obviously their views are going to be slanted in their direction. ND did the same last week. That said, I'm sure a lot of their cockiness is aided by the fact that we've had a ton of injuries, a lot of adversity, and a cross country flight just to get there.

I'm confident this team will be ready to play at a high level. How many times over the past 5 years can we say that a Rocco led team showed up unprepared and going through the motions? Last I can recall is 2016 Stony Brook.

WE. ARE. NOT. FINISHED!!!

I hope you are both right. Neither of you would be happier than I with a win. However, I am thinking that our opponent is more similar to NDSU last year than Illinois State. The travel doesn't bother me nearly as much as the injuries. That said, it was encouraging to hear Coach Rocco speak at the luncheon today. He convinced me that he truly believes that we have a good shot. I am going to rely on his judgment, but I believe that it will take the best effort that we have given all year and we will still need some good breaks.

I find it encouraging that they give up 200 yards a game rushing considering the fact that their opponents were behind almost every game and had to throw the ball to catch up.

In my opinion we are vulnerable to QBs that run around. Which it sounds like your young sophomore can do.

Our defense doesn't do well with yards. But they keep points off the board. A creative redzone offense can take advantage.

At the radio show Danny seemed to feel there were spots we could attack -- spoke highly of EWU, but actually seemed to feel good about our chances

Weather update : It's going to be really interesting now. They are now expecting 2 to 4 inches of snow on Friday, AND another 1 to 3 inches on Saturday prior to and DURING the entire game . The chance for all of this snow is 80% . The high temps will only be 32* and the low will be 24*. Blustery and windy. Wind gusts of 23mph are expected.

When was the last time we played in these windy, wintery, and snowy conditions ?

How do you think we will handle it ??

How will this affect the game plans of EW and the Spiders ?

Will the weather take over ?

EW plays and prefers the short passing game. Hmmm.... Might we be in a defensive struggle all day ?

Hello Spider fans from an Eagle fan. I don't think the AM snow will be as much of a factor as will the cold. It will probably be in the mid to upper twenties at kickoff. Currently it is sunny and 20 degrees in Cheney. We look forward to hosting the Spiders and hope for an injury free game.

Neither those of us who watched the Spiders beat UND nor our coaches and players take the Spiders for granted. No team makes to the FCS quarterfinals unless they are pretty good. When a team continues to win despite the adversities your team has faced, you know you have a determined opponent on your hands.

I was hoping the field would be covered anything to hide that horrible red. How many cases of Nausea or vision problems do your fans who follow on TV have per game?

None! Installation of the red has correlated with a dramatic increase in satisfaction due to the EWU fan experience! Bolstered by the medicinal value of a 40-7 record, it actually tends to alleviate nausea and blindness.

There are rumors that it can act as an effective aphrodisiac and fertility aid, but fans are too busy celebrating a steady stream of home wins to confirm or deny these claims.
