I'm at the point of life where I no longer have the energy to care about college basketball the way I used to. I'll just say that the frustrating part is to climb the mountain like we did last year, win the regular season and then just immediately seem to throw away any momentum, excitement, goodwill, etc. that we should have used as a building block to make that a more regular occurrence. Losing our first two real games on the heels of an A10 title just should not be acceptable to anyone in Year 20. Does anyone think Dayton would do that? VCU? Loyola? Any legit year-in/year-out title contender?

Of course it's possible that we will now win 15 in a row and this will just be a blip on the radar, but most of us know what's more likely to happen.

Wins
- Loyola 73, Princeton 68 - Nice road win for the Ramblers.
- St. Joe's 86, Penn 69 - No letdown after beating Villanova on Tuesday.

Losses
- DePaul 84, Duquesne 58 - The Dukes hung with the Demons for most of the first half, but then it totally fell apart.
- Manhattan 78, Fordham 76 - Not as close as the final score appears, as the Rams were down 13 with under a minute to go and then started draining threes including one at the buzzer to set the final margin.

Gilly in the NBA

Scoreless night with only three shots for Gilly in another loss to Sioux Falls, despite playing 35 minutes. He did have 6 assists, but no boards, 4 turnovers, and 5 fouls. On another semi-positive note, he was the only starter with a positive +/- at +1.

I am all over the deficit. I fear it will not be addressed until too late as it will take very unpopular choices. I have said before Republicans cut taxes and still spend. Democrats raise taxes and spend more. Once enacted, reversing tax cuts are almost impossible. It is the same for spending on new programs. Each party has its own form of bread and circuses. Unless Social Security, Medicare and Defense are on the table, it will be difficult to achieve meaningful cuts. Even if that occurs, tax increase are likely. In order to get our house in order, everyone's ox needs goring.

Well, given we tip off in 15 hours, the fact there are only 4 posts in this thread (now 5!) aptly demonstrates how quickly enthusiasm has been sapped.

Anyway, the Spiders touched down at 4pm. About a 35-minute bus ride from there to campus.
