So true. But yes, I think so. Or forced as Captain A said. Really rough feeling. But they’ve reconditioned things to make you think his tenure is top success and great performance and made us “one of the top basketball programs in the nation”. We were better pre Mooney. It now gets u minimum 24 years job security.

I made this comment in another thread because I had to LMAO after student17 said a down year is inevitable. Mooney has them 40% of the time. 40! IF if this year is another non winning .500 or below season that will be 8 out of 20 years for Moon. That’s insane for a vet coach. If he gets swept by vcu he’ll be at 25% win. 25! Look at those numbers. One would then think he’s crushing it the rest of the time. Nope. 3 NCAAs.

You know how many inevitable down .500 or below years coaches Tarrant and Beilein had at U of R in 17 combined years?

Not supposed to…forced to.

Come on guys, you know Mooney will have a few “down” years and just as there is a little grumbling that he may be done he will pull out an ncaa berth. It may take 4-5 years but the AD will breath a sigh of relief, another extension will be signed, and we will continue to promote the winningest (and losingest) coach in program history.

Maybe I am missing something here. When the Spiders press it seems to create some turnover opportunities. If nothing else is really working, why not press more? Is it because it would fall into the "square peg, round hole" Mooney system?

You didn't watch the game. Our coaches scouted Hampton. They saw a weakness on the left side of the line. The first play from scrimmage was off the left tackle for almost 60 yards. We scored in the first 2 minutes. But we ran the same play probably 15 times, it stopped working. I kept looking for a play action pass based on that play. It never came. Our strategy was to use ZPS to wear them done. We had a run first game plan. It barely worked.

My wife turned to me and asked why we were running the same play into a crowd of people.

It was 14-0, we were on their 20 yardline, and we ran a designed QB draw to the same spot on the other side of the line. Coleman fumbled, they gained momentum and they scored.

On the other side, on one of Hampton's scoring plays, they threw to a receiver 3 times in a row. The first 2 didn't work, but the third time was the charm.

Given what you posted, will we be playing W&M next year? What about 2026 and 2027? It appears there is no room for them on the schedule.

The quirk of Strength of Schedule ratings: the teams with some of the worst records have the higher SOS, while the teams with the best records have a much lower SOS.

NC A&T has a Strength of Schedule of 6
Campbell 15
Bryant 22
UR has a SOS of 113 (of 129)

Yet, all we hear on here are the see, I told u Mooney sucks, we never win, we are too complacent, and no one cares comments, and on and on. No question we have looked pretty bad so far. Hopefully, we can turn things around and play a lot better. But, many on here act like this has been the norm the past several years and the program and coach just don't care enough when in reality we have had a lot of success the past 5 years and there has been no sign at all of complacency from anyone. Just unreal what we hear on here after a loss or two.

So, we have almost lost to both Campbell and Hampton. These teams are improving, which supports the point that there was no rush to leave the CAA. Campbell and Hampton played tougher schedules than just about every team in the Patriot.

The #2 team in the Patriot does not make the playoffs.
